The
Corner
Dear Friends,
It’s planting time! This is the time of the
year to put seed in the ground for a vegetable garden that will provide
for you in the coming months. It is not an easy process but you really do
reap from the sweat and effort put into it. Having a vegetable garden each
summer is a long standing tradition in my family and I have many memories
of enjoying the different things grown in the garden but it involves hard
work and dedication to make the whole process a success.
The soil with which you work is very
important because it will determine how much you harvest. The first step
involves breaking the ground and possibly adding the right amount of
manure to really make the plants grow and yield a big harvest. After the
ground has been tilled and prepared it is time to put in the seeds. This
has to be done carefully according to the needs of each variety. Some
seeds need to be put several inches below the surface while others just
need a very light covering of soil. Ignoring this detail could cost you
dearly and leave you dreaming of eating something that will never come to
fruition. Then the seeds must be faithfully watered or they will sprout
and die. Because of God’s curse on Adam, it’s not smooth sailing as you
merely water your plants and wait for your harvest. (Genesis 3:17-19)
These weeds are indeed pesky and will
flourish even if you deny them water. After many weeks of work, the time
finally comes when you get to enjoy the bounty of your harvest. Going to a
supermarket and purchasing vegetables is not the same as when you eat
fruit of your labor, knowing that all your hard work has paid off;
likewise, it is the same in our walk with the Lord. (Galatians 6:7-9) So
what kind of seed are you sowing? Praise the Lord if you’re walking with
Him and the harvest is good. But what about those whose harvest is bad?
The first step is to stop sowing the bad seed. Then turn to God and repent
and ask Him to remove your harvest of bad fruit and help you to sow some
good seed. (Isaiah 55:6-7) The road to recovery may not be easy but the
Lord will be with you every step of the way.
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and
earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his
glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and
grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the
breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of
Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the
fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world
without end. Amen.” (Ephesians
3:14-21)
May God richly bless you today,
