THE EARLY CHURCH
Part 7: The Belly of the Beast |
|
The early church was birthed in a cauldron surrounded
by the ungodly Jewish leadership. Caiaphas arrested the apostles,
intending to question them the next day, but God had other plans and
sent an angel to set them free with the message to get back on the
proverbial horse. Soldiers brought them back to Caiphas the next day
and the Holy Ghost accused the Sanhedrin of colluding with the
Romans to have Jesus crucified. The gloves came off as Caiaphas and
his cronies decided to execute the apostles, but Gamaliel prevailed
upon them to listen to the voice of reason. A move of God cannot be
stopped when its leader rises from the dead and the followers are
empowered to perform miracles. Caiaphas backed off, but vindictively
scourged the apostles. They left with the pain of their injuries,
counting it an honor to suffer for the name of Jesus, knowing that
nothing could stop them when God was on their side. |
